Caring for God’s Creations Kindness is a choice

Caring for God’s creation is the role we have been given as humans but more specifically upon joining the church. You might wonder why God gave us such a large, important job but that is because He will guide us. He knows we are capable and will live more like Jesus. Caring for God’s creation is also called stewardship. As stewards, it is our responsibility to care for God’s creations. We should always care for nature, but also the people on God’s earth. At St.Luke’s School, we emphasize that simple acts of kindness show people that we care.

At St.Luke’s School we appreciate all acts of kindness and the teachers show gratitude for these acts of kindness through merits. When a teacher acknowledges a student going out of their way to help someone or show kindness they give them a merit which makes the student feel needed and happy. During “Kindness Week” we have fun dress downs, but to earn the dress down we need to donate to someone in need. This teaches us to help others less fortunate than ourselves, and reminds us that we never know someone's situation and we should always be kind. When students portray kindness during kindness week they are also rewarded with a kindness coin. Being rewarded shows us that being kind is always a positive thing that will overall benefit us. If we follow the golden rule, “Treat others the way you want to be treated” you will find that being kind to others will ultimately improve your own self. If you are kind to others, the favor will be returned resulting in a kinder community for you to grow in.

In Whitestone, the students are taught to give back at a young age. They carry these values throughout their whole childhood and life. It is so important to care for God’s earth and all the people on it to reassure it is all growing and thriving.
