Our Sacred Duties: Little Things Mean A Lot

John Parlante Grade 8

Do we truly comprehend the urgency of our planet's plight? As custodians of this earth, we must care for it and all its inhabitants. We can demonstrate our care by boycotting companies that support animal testing or engage in unsustainable practices. We can also show our concern for the earth’s geographical features by recycling and supporting organizations contributing to its conservation.

Many individuals underestimate the power of small actions in helping the earth, believing that their efforts are insignificant. This needs to be clarified. It's not about one person doing all the work, but all of us working together.  Every contribution, no matter how small, is valuable and appreciated. Imagine if everyone picked up a piece of trash on the beach- the impact would be immense.  We all have a role to play,  and while some may do more than others, every little bit counts.

As beings created by God, we have been entrusted with many gifts, one of which is our planet. It's not just a gift but a responsibility. We must protect and care for it, ensuring that future generations can also enjoy this precious gift. Each of us has the power to make a difference, no matter how big or small. In return, our planet will provide us with everything we need to thrive and enjoy our home. The time to act is now.
