Computer Science Education Week-Dec. 3-9

Trivia question:  Did you know that the first woman to receive a Ph.D. degree in computer science in the United States was Sister Mary Kenneth Keller, B.V.M.  Her dissertation work involved constructing algorithms.  Thus in celebration of Computer Science Education Week, CTN is bringing you many resources from Education City and Learn360 that can be used during this week.  We also recommend bringing the “Hour of Code” (a worldwide event sponsored by Code.com) to your classroom this week and give every student an opportunity to try computer science for one hour. This year there are over 100 New Tutorials with the ability to filter by grade so everyone can find the perfect activity.

EducationCity’s module, Computing, will help you introduce essential technology skills to your students (Grades PreK-5).  With Computing’s engaging, interactive content, students will learn not only how to use technology, but also how to use it safely and responsibly. Computing includes all the great resources such as activities, interactive mini lessons, and lesson plans.
