Hispanic Heritage Month

“It is important for all of us to appreciate where we come from and how that history has really shaped us in ways that we might not understand.”

-Sonia Sotomayor, First Hispanic Supreme Court Justice

Bring Hispanic Heritage Month into your classroom with these lesson plan ideas.

K-5 Lesson: Use this lesson to teach students that sometimes being brave means doing things no one has ever done before. Then, using the story A Girl Named Rosita, based on Rita Moreno, students will learn that one can make their dreams come true with hard work. 3-8 Lesson: Have students immerse themselves in Hispanic culture and understand its importance in our lives with this research project. 6-8 Lesson: Learn about how previous generations have paved the way for where many of us are today. See how some NASA employees share their parents and grandparents’ amazing stories as immigrants in America.
