During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are stuck inside with nothing to do. Everybody’s spirits are low and many are convinced all hope is lost. Parents need hope in their lives more than ever. They make their children dinner while dealing with the stress of working from home or the loss of their job. They need hope to keep them going through these tough times.
During quarantine, you can remind your parents that because of this pandemic, pollution has never been lower. In Venice the canals are clear and the dolphins have gone back home. In China, the air quality is much better. In my neighborhood in Queens, the trees have never been greener. We can talk to our parents about this and it may help them out a little bit just to show them that COVID-19 can bring good things and it isn’t all that bad. This is a great opportunity to spend quality time with our families. It is nice to be able to bond and discover new things about each other and find hope through laughter and joy during times of quarantine and isolation.
Now, more than ever, we need to pray. Though we can’t go to church, our parish has virtual Sunday Masses on the church website so we can still be with God during these times. With prayer, we can get through this with God. Even without the televised mass, we can still pray to God. It is important to pray for the people who have been severely affected by these terrible times. We’re in this together, all the way through. We can achieve so much during these times. If we all have hope, we can get through this together.
