Teachers TryScience THINK Workshop

June 8, 2013; 9 am – 3 pm

Increase student critical thinking in this one-day workshop for educators who teach grades 7 – 12. You will learn how to use IBM’s new THINK app to engage your classroom in student-centered STEM lessons that empower learners to act as innovators and tackle real-world challenges. Afterwards, you’ll be able to use the hands-on lessons demonstrated in this workshop in your classroom, plus you’ll receive a $135 stipend.

STEM and The Common Core Summer Institute

July 15 – 18, 2013; 9 am – 4 pm

Integrate hands-on STEM based activities into your classroom curriculum with this professional development program for middle school teachers. Explore various journaling strategies and learn how to use non-fiction texts to create a richer learning experience for students. Explore ways to help your students set up investigations and practice problem solving. By the end of the institute, you will be skilled in various techniques that will help you successfully teach a well-rounded science curriculum and you will receive a $250 stipend.
