November Edition – Honoring Workers

 The articles and artwork of each Tablet Jr. are created by the students of the diocesan academies, and each month there is a new theme and a new academy.  

Family and Community is the theme of this edition.  Sacred Heart Catholic Academy in Bayside is this month’s academy to showcase its journalistic skills.  Enjoy reading the additional student submissions as well as using the Teacher Resources below. Honoring Workers at Northwell

Dr. Radha Boodram works in the Covid 19 unit in the ICU.  Dr. Boodram has been working at Northwell Hospital for 5 years.  She has been in the medical field for over 17 years.  She was also  featured on the show 60 Minutes.  A photograph of her was taken instructing the intensive care nurses on how to use a ventilator to intubate a patient.

How Covid- 19 affected the Army

Covid 19 affected the world.   Michael McDonnell was interviewed via facetime to discuss his job. Michael stated that he is in the Army Reserves. Michael also stated that in the army his position is in communication technology. He was only 19 years old when he joined the military, which was back in 1999.

Mrs. Marie Makes Lives Easier

Mrs. Marie is our school secretary. She makes sure that every kid wears a mask because of Covid- 19. She has been taking care of the students as we deal with  Covid – 19 on a daily basis.  Mrs. Marie said, “ I feel uncomfortable wearing a mask the whole day.”

Nurse Ishrat Saves the Day

Nurse Ishrat is the school nurse of Sacred Heart. She has been working here for seven years. She loves to help kids and to take care of them. She is a very loving and sweet nurse. Her husband became sick long ago and after that happened, she felt inspired to become a nurse and to help others.

A collaboration between CTN and The Tablet editorial staff, The Tablet Jr. includes stories written by middle-grade students from diocesan academies and schools as well as student-created artwork.
